The Ministry of Environmental Protection has launched the e-FEES Portal [link], which became available starting March 14, 2025. According to the ministry’s announcement, the e-FEES portal provides users with a simple and efficient way to access data related to the collection of environmental fees, thereby contributing to transparency and facilitating compliance with legal obligations.
Who is the new portal intended for?
The new portal is primarily intended for legal entities that are obligated to pay environmental protection fees in accordance with the Law on Fees for the Use of Public Goods.
Which environmental fees are covered by the portal?
The new portal enables tracking and control of fee collection based on issued decisions for:
It is apparent that the portal does not include all fees pertaining to environmental pollution nor the environmental protection and improvement fee (so-called ECO-fee).
What do users get?
After logging into the portal, the legal representative of a legal entity, i.e., other authorized person, will have access to all decisions issued to the user, any warnings related to those decisions, as well as payments made and the balance of charges and payments by year. The portal also offers the ability to search the above-mentioned data by type of fee and calendar year.
Another benefit for registered users of the e-FEES portal is that delivery of decisions and warnings will be carried out via eMailBox. The portal also contains details related to fee payments, including information on payment accounts for environmental pollution fees, letter codes for waste streams, a tool for calculating the control number, instructions for generating the payment reference number, a municipality codebook, and a fee schedule.
Conclusion
The new portal is expected to save companies time when communicating with the relevant authorities and, as a result, make it easier to monitor and pay environmental protection fees. The number of fees currently covered by the portal is still limited, so it remains to be seen what its actual scope will be.
