ESG Seminar: A Thought-Provoking Start
The meeting began with an ESG Seminar at the iconic Grand Hôtel Stockholm, setting the stage for engaging conversations around Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. Organized by Paulo Câmara of Sérvulo & Associados and Markus Bauer of RITTERSHAUS Rechtsanwälte PartmbB, the seminar delved into pressing topics such as:
- Corporate Governance as a catalyst for superior ESG practices
- Litigation in ESG matters
- The social implications of ESG
Key presentations were delivered by esteemed speakers, including Rolf Skog from the University of Gothenburg, Jens Magers from RITTERSHAUS Rechtsanwälte PartmbB, Yoshihisa Hayakawa from Uryu & Itoga, Christian Antkowiak from Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, Jorge A. Mestre from Rivero Mestre LLP, and Emily Nicholson from Mishcon de Reya LLP.
Geopolitical and Regional Perspectives
Legalink had the privilege of hosting Mark Brolin, geostrategist and geopolitical expert, who provided a refreshing analysis of the global geopolitical landscape. His session moved beyond common narratives, offering clear and actionable insights into current events.
The conversation then shifted to Ukraine, with a compelling presentation by Armen Khachaturyan of Asters, Legalink’s Ukrainian member firm. Armen provided an in-depth exploration of the challenges faced in the region and the legal implications of ongoing conflicts.
As Legalink Chairman Christopher Trowbridge, from Bell Nunnally & Martin LLP, remarked during his opening address:
"With Sweden’s unique position in the world, its new membership in NATO, and its proximity to Russia, the Committee felt Stockholm was the perfect location to start this conversation. Legalink’s network is uniquely positioned to facilitate this dialogue, inform us all, and provide substantive insights to take back to our respective jurisdictions."
A distinguished panel featuring Alex Malyshev from Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP (USA), Beril Yayla Sapan from Gün + Partners (Türkiye), Edmund Kronenburg from Braddell Brothers LLP (Singapore), Edmundo Elías from Ramos, Ripoll & Schuster (Mexico), Adam Rose from Mishcon de Reya LLP (UK), and Armen Khachaturyan examined the broader implications of current conflicts. This panel provided attendees with a nuanced understanding of global challenges and their legal ramifications.
An Unforgettable Gala Dinner
The meeting concluded with a spectacular Gala Dinner at Operaterrassen, a venue offering panoramic views of Stockholm’s most iconic landmarks, including the Royal Palace and the Parliament House. Over 100 Legalink members and their families gathered to celebrate and create lasting memories in an elegant and convivial atmosphere.
